Five Things You Need to Know About Teething

  1. You can expect me to show up around the time your little one is six to eight months old. But be patient! Some babies won't get their teeth until closer to Twelve or Fourteen months old.
  2. You will know when the tooth/teeth are about to arrive because your baby will likely be very irritable and will chew on hard objects. Usually the bottom two front teeth appear first, then the top two middle teeth.
  3. The best way to coerce a tooth to come out is to have your baby use a teething ring or gently rub your child's gums with a cool, wet washcloth.
  4. After the first tooth appears, it is time to begin brushing each morning and evening. Once two teeth are touching, it is time to start flossing. You should supervise brushing until your child is seven or eight years old. Most children master flossing around age ten.
  5. Once a tooth appears, it is time to make an appointment!
